Tiny Cannon!
Ask me anything
This is a photograph taken on September 12th, 2011 of a Washington, DC police officer named Scott Fike restraining a pit bull terrier named Parrot, taken moments before he murdered him.
Parrot, a dog owned by an animal shelter who was regularly reported to have a friendly disposition and had no bite history, had gotten into a scuffle with another dog while walking down the street on September 12th, 2011. Parrot eventually bit the dog in the paw while the dog bit Parrot in the face multiple times. No humans were harmed during the incident. After the owners were able to separate the dogs, Parrot continued to lay on the ground, bleeding from the face. Eyewitness accounts confirm that Parrot was completely benign as his owner put his arms around him to comfort him.
Suddenly, three police officers, including officer Fike, approached the scene. Fike, identifying himself as a K-9 officer, stated that he “knew what to do”. He proceeded to push the owner aside, after which he pinned Parrot down with his knee, putting his full weight on the dog’s neck (as pictured). Eyewitness accounts all agree that Parrot did nothing aggressive while this was happening. With no warning and no instigation, Officer Fike lifted Parrot chest-high and threw him down a set of stairs, pulled out his gun, and shot Parrot in the neck. Eyewitnesses say that after Parrot was thrown, he had some difficulty getting up and had not provoked the gunshot. He was simply executed. For no reason. When witnesses informed the officers that the animal was still alive and urged them to call for emergency veterinary help, they ignored them. For the next two hours, Parrot bled to death.

Here is a direct link to the official complaint filed against Officer Fike, which has very specific descriptions of all events that occured. The complaint has been investigated and it has been determined that the officer was NOT justified in his violent act, and the case has been sent to the US Attorney’s Office:

I think it’s because animals are seen as our pets, our “babies”, totally innocent and it’s all up to us to protect them....
i love how everyone care when it’s a dog. this kind of stuff happens to PEOPLE all the time. I’m not detracting how...
